As a guide, Owners are responsible for getting rid of the following pests if there is an infestation at the start of the tenancy:
- bees and wasps – and during the tenancy if in a wall cavity
- cockroaches and spiders
- mice and rats
The tenant is usually responsible if the above pests become a problem during the tenancy. As part of the General Tenancy Agreement, it is the responsibility of the tenant to have the property sprayed by a professional and reputable pest control company every 12 months or upon vacating the property, which ever should fall first.
These pests are the responsibility of the Owner:
- white ants
- possums – remove and seal entry points
- birds – remove and seal entry points.
