WATER CHARGING AS PER THE RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES AUTHORITY
As a tenant you can be asked to pay for the water they use if the rental property is individually metered and water efficient. You can also be charged for excess water if the property is individually metered and not water efficient. In both cases the tenancy agreement needs to state the tenant is to pay for water consumption. If you are to be charged for excess water the usage amount must be stated in the tenancy agreement.
PAYING THE BILL
You will not be billed directly from the supplier, however your property manager will issue you with an invoice once a copy of the invoice has been received either from the owner or water supplier. A copy of the water bill will be provided with your invoice. Once the invoice has been provided, the tenant have one month to pay (Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Regulation 2008).
